AI-Multiply Takes Paris
February 2024

Earlier in February I joined other members of the AI-Multiply Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement Team at the Participatory AI for Research and Practice Symposium in Paris!

Here we showcased our innovative engagement methods and insights from our evaluation. We received much praise for our approaches and everyone was impressed to see that we had public stakeholders with us and involved in the dissemination of our work.

It was interesting to learn we were the only health and healthcare focussed team and  learned a lot about what's happening in other areas of AI research! Paris I will be back to visit you soon!

BBC Interview

The importance of friendships in later life

Dec 2024

I was recently interviewed for a BBC FUTURE article about friendships as we age. The piece mentioned my PhD work and the benefits to our mental and physical health that our friendships can provide. My work with RISE Northeast and their valuable EVERY MOVE MATTERS programme to reduce the risk of frailty and increase social connections was also mentioned.

I really enjoyed this experience. To read the full article click the link below

AI-Multiply Public Involvement Event

September 2024

In September we held a full day event bringing together some of our public partners and researchers from across the project. We all got to hear updates about the project as a whole and held workshops to inform future directions of our research. We heard some great feedback from those that attended specifically praising our approach to public involvement and the implementation of public involvement sessions for our early career researchers. Watch this space for publications discussing public involvement in AI and Big Data projects.

Society for Social Medicine and Population Health Conference

September 2023

I recently got to talk to older adults and staff members involved in an active ageing programme for those living with or at rosk of frailty that was rolled out in Newcastle upon Tyne.

It was such a great experience learning how these activity and social sessions had impacted people's lives. Attendees got to try different activities over 16 weeks with opportunities to chat over coffee.

I heard how the sessions had improved physical and mental health and improved social connections. I also learned how carpet bowls brings out everyone's competitive side!

I presented these findings and others at the SSM conference in September - paper to follow shortly.
